Gunta Stölzl's rugs at DWR
Gunta Stölzl, the only female master of the Bauhaus school in pre-WWII Germany, was one of the preeminent modern textile designers. She helped weaving go from a craft occupation to industrial design.
DWR has released a series of Stölzl's rugs that never got beyond the design-on-paper stage. I particularly like the Plate 106 rug, with its abstract array of colors, lines and geometry.
